Claude Code v2.1.310 introduces the Monitor tool and plugin monitors for Bedrock, Vertex, and Foundry. It also blocks long foreground sleeps when telemetry or nonessential traffic is disabled.
Bug fixes include retrying requests that fail behind certain gateways or servers, preventing the deletion of recent files (such as pasted images) when cleanupPeriodDays is set to a very large value, and addressing compaction issues following a "Prompt is too long" error. Other fixes cover symbolic link destination displays, auto-continue timeouts after external editor closures, and PreToolUse/PermissionRequest hook behavior on Windows when Git Bash is missing.
Additionally, the update improves the auto mode prompt before the first read outside working directories and optimizes memory use during compaction for non-interactive sessions (-p, Agent SDK) when transcript files are very large.
