Key point

Dify v1.18.0 has been released, introducing Agent-driven workflow routing, portable apps in .ifpkg format, and deeper visibility into nested workflow runs.

Dify v1.18.0 introduces a feature where Agents can choose the next step in a workflow. By enabling Output Routes and assigning selection conditions to each route, an Agent can decide whether to resolve a request directly or hand it over to a specialist. While Plain Agent v2 nodes now stream text as it is generated, structured results, routed results, and nodes using default-value error handling remain buffered.

Additionally, the update includes portable apps, allowing users to move an app and its supported resources in a single .ifpkg package. Other highlights include deeper visibility into nested workflow runs, an opt-in Agent Knowledge Base experience, and expanded app management via OpenAPI and the new difyctl.

When upgrading, the API, workers, Agent Backend, and Agent runtime images must be upgraded together. Source installations require Python 3.13, and local Agent sandboxes require a non-empty authentication token. Existing PASSWORD_PEPPER configurations must be preserved.
